The Buckeye Lake Poker Run is now scheduled for July 17th, 2021 after having been scrubbed last year due to concerns about COVID 19.
It will be launched from Lieb's Island Boat Ramp and the Hupman's home starting at 11: 00 am on Saturday, July 17th. Come enjoy 7-8 bars/restaurants, including the historic Buckeye Lake Yacht Club, which will provide a nearly complete tour around the lake. Prizes will be awarded.
If you can't bring a boat, let us know and we will help you find a ride with someone else or on one of our boats. We have two docks open and can tie off more if necessary.
The picnic will follow the Poker Run. We will provide the meat portion and table service. Please bring and appetizer, side dish, or desert to share and your favorite beverage. If you can't come for the Poker Run, come for the picnic! (approximately 4 pm).
Parking is available for vehicles/trailers adjacent to the ramps or just vehicles, at our house that is around the corner.
Details will follow later and packets of instructions, including maps, will be provided at the Poker Run.
If you plan to come, Please let us know.

Ohio River Trip August 13th-15th
Trip: The Ohio River
When: Weekend of August 13th to 15th 2021 Where: Ripley, Ohio
This stretch of the River is one of the best having traveled both directions over the years to both Charleston W.VA all the way down to Louisville, KY. It is one of the most scenic water ways between the Greenup and Meldahl Locks. And it has some of the most notable historic river towns along the way.
Ripley, OH is known for the Rankin House, John Parker and Tobacco museums. Historic downtown has several local establishments for food and beverage.
Beginning in Ripley, Ohio from the Eagle Creek Marina off Rt 52. Heading SW out of the creek towards the River. Up river (East) towards Aberdeen, OH and Maysville, KY are first set of towns about 10 miles. Maysville is known for fine dining, antique, jewelry shops and the Old Pogue Distillery along the history river front. Further up the River are the Manchester, Islands. On any given weekend 150+ watercraft anchor and pull up to the Islands that is always a great destination for lunch. Most will pack or bring food & related to cook on the island or your boat.
The opposite direction from Eagle Creek, down River (West) is the Ripley Boat Club that has both indoor and outdoor eating on the water known for Pizza, Burgers and lots of good comfort food. Further down the River about 15 miles is Augusta, KY home of the late Rosemary Clooney, and George Clooney family parents Nick & Anita reside and have an antique shop. This town is known for the Augusta Pub, Corner Cafe and Beehive Tavern. The Augusta ‘Ferry’ is available at this location and even a historic railroad caboose to tour. Just a little further down River in front of the Meldahl lock on the Ohio side is the famous Fatboy’s Dream floating restaurant.
So, come on down and enjoy a fun filled weekend. Stay with the group or split off and catch up with us.
When launching at Eagle Creek Marina, should wish to visit our place, just head up the creek and go under the Rt 52 Bridge about ½ mile you will arrive at our docks. They are L- shaped 60’ x 20’ and you will not miss it.
As we get closer to this trip, I will firm up the agenda. The best lodging options are in towns of Maysville, KY or Aberdeen, OH for trailer boats.
