What is United States Power Squadrons® /America's Boating Club®?


Organized in 1914, United States Power Squadron | America's Boating Club is America's largest non-profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in boat handling, navigation and related subjects. Our members are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education, civic service, and their own responsible enjoyment of local waterways. We enjoy participating in activities with our fellow members on the water and in the classroom, on the water, and beyond. United States Power Squadron | America's Boating Club has some 25,000 members organized into 350+ squadrons across the country and in some US territories. USPS has been honored by three US presidents for its civic contributions. Learn boating skills/ Engage in the fun/ Connect with the boating community - we have it all!

Do not forget to check with your insurance company for discounts for taking approved courses.


Education Requirement for Membership
 

Although United States Power Squadron | America's Boating Club has no education requirement for membership, squadrons may elect to require the passing of an approved boating course as a requirement for membership. America's Boating Course is offered by your local squadron and is available online 24/7.
 

Membership Qualifications:
 

To qualify for active membership in a local squadron of United States Power Squadron | America's Boating Club:

  • You must be able and willing to contribute time, energy, and skills to the objective of United States Power Squadron | America's Boating Club.

  • You must have paid all applicable entrance fees, dues, and assessments.

  • Your membership application must be accepted by your local squadron's executive committee or the Membership Chair.
